XMD Magnum Kyr-Yianni Warehouse 10
€47,20
XMD Magnum by Kyr-Yianni Warehouse 10 is one of those wines that carries the feeling of experimentation, but with a seriously polished result. Its name comes from the initials of the two varieties, Xinomavro and Mavrodaphne, which meet in a 50-50 blend. On one side, Xinomavro brings energy, acidity, structure and earthy intensity. On the other, Mavrodaphne adds darker fruit, a velvety feel and a more aromatic, almost spicy side.
In the glass, it has a deep red character and a nose that moves between red and black fruits, herbs and spices. On the palate, it is full, complex and velvety, with tannins that have rounded beautifully through oak ageing and time in bottle. This is not a wine that shouts. It opens gradually, showing layers of fruit, earth, spice and aged complexity.
The winemaking of XMD is built for depth and length. Its 12 months in oak barrels give a more velvety character and soften the tannins, while the Magnum bottle helps the wine evolve more slowly and harmoniously. It is, after all, a label released exclusively in Magnum and in limited quantity through Warehouse 10, Kir-Yianni’s platform for collectible, unreleased and more distinctive wine discoveries.
XMD Magnum is a wine for a serious table, for gifting or for cellaring. It needs a large glass, time to breathe and ideally a decanter. It pairs beautifully with grilled or slow-cooked meats, oven-baked dishes, game, charcuterie, mature cheeses and richer red sauces. A rare red Magnum by Kyr-Yianni Warehouse 10, made from Greek varieties, with aged character and enough personality to stay in memory.
