Fallen Oak Magnum Kir-Yianni Domaine

The Fallen Oak Magnum by Kir-Yianni Estate is the large-bottle format of a red wine with history, depth and a clear Naoussa identity. It is made from Xinomavro, Merlot and Syrah, comes from selected vineyards of the Estate in Naoussa and is classified as PGI Imathia. The Magnum bottle gives it even stronger presence at the table and makes it ideal as a gift, for a festive dinner or for an evening that calls for something more special.

In the glass, it has a deep ruby color and aromas of red fruit, with cherry at the front, along with notes of vanilla, spice and a subtle touch from the oak. On the palate, it is rich, round and fruity, with velvety tannins, balanced acidity and a long finish that leaves a pleasant spicy impression.

Each variety is vinified separately, so Xinomavro, Merlot and Syrah keep their own role in the final blend. Pre-fermentation maceration at low temperatures, fermentation in stainless steel tanks and ageing in 225 and 500 liter French oak barrels give the wine a more integrated texture, depth and that soft, well-crafted feel that makes it immediately enjoyable but still serious.

The name The Fallen Oak is a tribute to the centuries-old oak tree that stood next to the Koula Tower, a symbol of Kir-Yianni Estate, and fell after the severe storm of July 10, 2019. So the wine also carries a more emotional side: the connection of the Estate with Naoussa, Xinomavro and its tradition in red blends.

At the table, The Fallen Oak Magnum loves rich but not overly heavy dishes. It works beautifully with slow-cooked meats, grilled meats, mushrooms, eggplant, red sauces, creamy preparations and semi-hard or mature cheeses. A red Magnum with history, fruit, soft tannins and the quiet strength of Kir-Yianni Estate.
