Blue Fox Magnum by Kir-Yianni Estate is the large-bottle format of one of the Estate’s most generous and distinctive red wines. Here, the blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot creates a wine with depth, intensity and a velvety texture, while the Magnum bottle adds even stronger presence at the table. It is a choice for gifting, ageing or for an evening that calls for a truly serious red wine.
In the glass, it has a deep ruby color with purple highlights. The nose is expressive and rich, with black fruit, vanilla, black pepper, caramel, nuts, smoke and oak. On the palate, it is full, concentrated and velvety, with sour cherry, plum, blackcurrant, chocolate and cinnamon gradually coming through as the wine opens.
The winemaking of Blue Fox is designed for intensity and complexity. The grapes are selectively hand-harvested, each variety is handled separately and pre-fermentation maceration takes place at 9-10°C for 5 to 7 days. Fermentation takes place in wooden tanks, with gentle punch-downs, and the wine then matures for 16 months in mostly new French oak barrels of 225 and 500 liters, before spending another 12 months in bottle.
In Magnum, this structure finds an even better rhythm. The larger bottle helps the wine evolve more slowly and gives it a more collectible feel, something that suits the rich character of Blue Fox very well. It needs time in the glass, loves decanting and stands next to bold flavors without losing its balance.
At the table, it pairs beautifully with beef, game, lamb, mushroom dishes, rich sauces, smoky flavors and mature cheeses. A premium red Magnum with an international varietal mindset, a Naoussa background and the deep, intense character of Kir-Yianni Estate.
