Cuvée Villages Kir-Yianni Domaine
€11,80
Cuvée Villages by Kir-Yianni Estate is a Naoussa wine that shows Xinomavro in a more direct, friendly but far from simplistic version. It is made from selected vineyards within the PDO Naoussa zone, both from Giannakochori and from different villages of the area, creating a wine that works as a clear introduction to the character of Naoussa: fruit, acidity, structure and that slightly earthy intensity that makes Xinomavro so distinctive.
In the glass, it has a garnet color, typical of the variety, and a nose with strawberry, cherry, plum and darker fruits. Behind the fruit, subtle sweet spices and smoky notes appear, adding depth without making the wine feel heavy. On the palate, it is full, fresh and well structured, with good acidity, relatively soft tannins and a finish that lingers pleasantly.
The winemaking keeps the balance between classic Naoussa and a more approachable, modern red wine. The grapes are cooled, go through sorting and then a pre-fermentation maceration takes place at low temperatures for 6 days. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and the wine then matures for 12 months in French oak barrels, using a combination of new and older barrels, gaining roundness without losing the energy of Xinomavro.
Cuvée Villages is a red wine for those who want to enter the world of Naoussa without starting from something strict or demanding. It has enough structure for food, but it can also be enjoyed easily on its own. It works very well with dishes in red sauces, cold cuts, cheeses, mushrooms, meatballs, pasta with minced meat, hearty casseroles and grilled meats of medium intensity. A Xinomavro with clear identity, freshness and the signature of Kir-Yianni Estate in Naoussa.
