Apla Red Oenops Wines
€14,90
The Apla Red Oenops Wines is a dry red wine built around three Greek varieties with a clear personality: Xinomavro, Limniona and Mavroudi. Xinomavro brings tension, red fruit and its distinctive herbal intensity, Limniona adds a juicier, velvety feel, while Mavroudi contributes depth, spice and a more earthy dimension.
Oenops Wines by Nikos Karatzas, based in Drama, works with Greek varieties and selected growers from different regions of Greece. Its approach is clear: no heavy oak, no excess, just wines that show the grape, the place and the vintage in a modern and direct way. In Apla Red, the varieties are vinified separately in stainless steel tanks, concrete and old open-top barrels, while ageing takes place in neutral vessels, with no new oak, so the purity of the fruit stays in front. In the glass, it has a bright ruby colour and aromas of cherry, red berries, pomegranate, dried herbs, pepper and subtle earthy notes. On the palate, it is fresh, juicy and pleasantly structured, with crisp acidity, soft tannins and a finish that leaves red fruit and spice. It is not a heavy, tiring red; it is a wine with energy, clarity and character, easy to enjoy but with enough depth to stand next to food.
It pairs beautifully with tomato-based stews, grilled meats, burgers, lamb, pork, mushroom dishes, Mediterranean tomato sauces, Greek vegetable stews and semi-hard cheeses.
