Dots Limniona Oenops Wines
€18,40
The Dots Limniona Oenops Wines is a dry red wine made from 100% Limniona, one of the most exciting rising Greek red varieties. It comes from high-altitude vineyards in Thessaly, in the Karditsa area, with vines over 30 years old that give low yields, pure fruit and natural freshness.
Oenops Wines by Nikos Karatzas works with Limniona through a low-intervention approach, allowing the variety to show its refined, juicy and unexpectedly elegant side. Early harvesting helps preserve vibrant acidity, while careful sorting brings clarity to the final wine. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in clay amphorae and a concrete tank, and the wine stays for 10 months on its fine lees before being bottled unfiltered.
In the glass, it has a bright ruby colour and aromas of cherry, red gooseberry, red berries, acacia flowers and subtle spices. On the palate, it is fresh, direct and very enjoyable, with juicy fruit, crisp acidity and velvety tannins that give it flow without weighing it down. It is a red wine that does not need to shout in order to stand out; it has character, detail and that relaxed charm that makes it ideal for the modern table.
It pairs beautifully with rib-eye, oven-roasted pork, beef, burgers, pasta with tomato sauce, mushrooms, dishes with Mediterranean spices and semi-hard cheeses. Try it slightly chilled too, especially if you want to highlight its freshness and red fruit character.
