Touriga Nacional Wine Art Estate

Touriga Nacional by Wine Art Estate is a red wine with a rare character for Greek standards. The Portuguese Touriga Nacional, known from great Port wines but now increasingly exciting in dry vinifications, was officially cultivated for the first time in Greece by Wine Art Estate. In Drama, with its cool microclimate and the mountains surrounding the vineyards, the variety shows power, concentration and intensity, without losing its elegance.
Vinification starts with a few days of pre-fermentation cold maceration, allowing the right phenolics, colour and structure to pass into the must before alcoholic fermentation begins. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with regular pump-overs, while after malolactic conversion the wine ages for 12 months in French oak barrels, 50% of them new. This gives it depth, integration and the ability to evolve over time.
In the glass, it has a deep ruby colour and a dense nose with black cherries, berries, plums, black pepper, leather, smoke, oak and cedar. On the palate, it is full, powerful and intense, with high acidity, ripe but firm tannins and great length. It is a wine that does not go unnoticed; it has volume, density and that dark, spicy side that makes Touriga Nacional so distinctive.
At the table, it needs dishes with matching intensity. Try it with beef shank, fillet, roasted lamb with garlic and rosemary, Portobello mushrooms, roasted eggplants or aged graviera cheese. It is a bottle for anyone looking for something different, collectible and bolder than the usual reds.
