Anafora Limiona Wine Art Estate

Anafora Limniona by Wine Art Estate is a very interesting expression of Limniona outside Thessaly, with the coolness of Drama giving the variety a fresher, juicier and more elegant character. It is a red wine focused on fruit, but not a simple one; it has finesse, structure and a lovely earthy-balsamic side that makes it more complex in the glass.
During vinification, a few days of pre-fermentation cold maceration are applied, allowing colour, phenolics and structure to pass into the must before alcoholic fermentation begins. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with regular pump-overs, while after malolactic fermentation the wine ages for 12 months in 300-litre French oak barrels, 50% of them new, before returning to tanks for resting and bottling.
In the glass, it has a vivid red colour with purple highlights and aromas of red cherry, berries, redcurrant, violet, subtle smoke, cigar box, hazelnut paste and vanilla. On the palate, it is juicy and flexible, with bright acidity, fine tannins and a lingering finish, leaving a lightly balsamic sensation.
It is a wine that does not need very heavy dishes to show its character. It works beautifully with cannelloni with minced meat, meat pie, ragù, rooster giouvetsi, mushroom dishes, eggplant dishes or red sauces with good concentration.
