Terra Nera Rosé by Artemis Karamolegos Winery is the rosé of Santorini that does not simply play the freshness card, but also brings character. A blend of Assyrtiko and Mandilaria, with grapes from vines around 50 years old in Exo Gonia, Megalochori, Messaria and Akrotiri, combining the sharp energy of Assyrtiko with the fruity, more spicy temperament of Mandilaria.
The brief pre-fermentation cold maceration gives it its beautiful rosé colour, while white vinification at low temperatures and ageing on the lees for 5 months keep the wine fresh, pure and enjoyably juicy. On the nose it reveals red cherry, strawberry, flowers and a peppery hint that gives it extra interest.
On the palate it is refreshing, crisp and aromatic, with vibrant acidity and a finish that lingers. Put it next to tomato fritters, Greek ratatouille, pizza, pasta with red sauce or Mediterranean dishes and you have a rosé that goes far beyond a simple summer glass.
