Plagios Red by Biblia Chora Estate is a Merlot with serious structure, deep fruit and a clearly premium mood. It does not move in the soft, easy profile often expected from the variety; here Merlot gains density, power and a more robust expression, with a small presence of Agiorgitiko adding a juicier, Greek touch.
In the glass it has a dense black-red colour and reveals red fruit, plum, wild cherry, cedar, spices, vanilla, bitter chocolate and nutmeg. Ageing for 16 months in new French oak barrels gives it depth, intensity and complex texture, without losing the fruity core of the wine.
On the palate it is dry, rich and structured, with well-integrated tannins, full structure and a long finish that leaves fruit, chocolate and spices. It needs a large glass, a little time to open up and dishes with depth, such as beef steak, slow-cooked lamb, game, fillet with mushrooms, rich red sauces or aged cheeses. A red wine with intensity, finesse and the ability to evolve beautifully in the cellar.
