Naoussa Boutari Winery

Boutari Wineries’ Naoussa is one of the most recognizable red wines of Greece and a classic expression of Xinomavro from the PDO Naoussa zone. It is not just another red wine on the shelf; it is a label with history, character and a clear connection to its place. Naoussa, on the eastern slopes of Mount Vermio, has built a large part of its wine identity around Xinomavro, and Boutari Wineries have played a decisive role in highlighting it.
In the winemaking process, Boutari Naoussa is handled with the aim of bringing out the structure, freshness and earthy depth of the variety without making the wine difficult. The process includes 24 hours of cold maceration, controlled alcoholic fermentation at 19-23°C, gentle extraction with pump-overs for 7-10 days, malolactic fermentation and 12 months of ageing in French oak barrels. The result is a Xinomavro with properly worked tannins, beautiful balance and a more velvety feel on the palate.
In the glass, it has a deep red colour with a lively hue and aromas of ripe red fruit, blackberry and plum, combined with ageing notes, cinnamon and oak. On the palate, it is rich, full and balanced, with the acidity of Xinomavro giving energy and the tannins keeping the wine steady next to food.
It is a wine for the table, for slow-cooked dishes, for meat, for cheese and for those moments when you want a red with history but without unnecessary stiffness. Try it with red meats, pasta with rich sauces, yellow cheeses, tomato-based stews, lamb or beef. Best served at 16-18°C, with a little time in the glass so it can open up and show its fruit, spice and classic Xinomavro character.
