Liatiko Grande by Silva Daskalaki Estate is the more mature, deep and noble side of Cretan Liatiko. Made from 100% Liatiko from vineyards in Heraklion, Crete, at an altitude of 300-500 metres, it brings to the glass the rare elegance of the variety: fruit, spices, earthy intensity and an old-school charm that does not need to shout.
In the glass it has a light red colour with brick-red highlights and aromas of ripe strawberry, dried cherry, raisin, pepper, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and smoky vanilla. Ageing gives it depth, velvety texture and a more complex character, while keeping the natural finesse of Liatiko in the foreground.
On the palate it is dry, elegant and warm, with ripe fruit, soft tannins and a long, spicy finish. It shows best next to lamb, game, tomato-based stews, mushroom dishes, aged cheeses or slow-cooked meat with spices. A red wine for slow sips, large glasses and tables that call for something truly distinctive.
