Grifos Red by Silva Daskalaki Estate is a natural, earthy and deeply expressive Cretan red wine, with a wilder character than the estate’s classic red labels. It comes from the family’s older vineyards, at an altitude of up to 450 metres, and brings to the glass the more effortless, authentic side of Crete.
Fermentation takes place in clay amphorae with indigenous yeasts, without sulphite addition, while the wine is bottled unfiltered, preserving all its texture and energy. In the glass it reveals ripe red fruit, dried fruit, cocoa, spices and earthy hints.
On the palate it is dry, complex and lively, with pronounced acidity, soft tannins and a long, spicy finish. It is not a red wine for rushed sips; it needs a little time in the glass and food with personality. Put it next to lamb, tomato-based stews, mushrooms, spicy small plates, aged cheeses, cold cuts or smoked meats. A red wine for those who love natural wines with depth and character.
