Lalikos Vineyards The Red
€13,70
The Red by Lalikos Vineyards is an expressive dry red wine from Lalikos Mountain Vineyards, originating from Kavala and classified as PGI Kavala. It is produced from 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot and highlights a mature and velvety character, based on the Pangaio terroir of the region.
In the glass, it shows a deep red color with violet highlights, while on the nose aromas of small red fruits stand out against a background of vanilla and spices. On the palate, it is silky, mature, and balanced, with a long aftertaste and a pleasant velvety texture.
The Red by Lalikos Vineyards matures in French oak barrels and is then completed in bottle before being released to the market. There is a small discrepancy between sources regarding the aging duration: the winery’s official page states 18 months in French oak barrels and 18 months in bottle, while market listings usually state 12 months in French oak barrels and 8 months in bottle. The commercial vintage most commonly shown is 2019, in a 750 ml bottle, with alcoholic strength listed from 13% to 13.5% vol depending on the source. It pairs beautifully with red meats, game, and dishes with complex sauces.
