Kamaras Single Vineyard by Artemis Karamolegos Winery is a rare, pure expression of Assyrtiko from Akrotiri in Santorini. It comes from a unique vineyard site with very old vines, over 150 years old, and carries in the glass the restrained power of the volcanic land: intensity, salinity, minerality and impressive precision.
Vinification allows the vineyard site to take the lead, keeping the fruit pure and the texture elegant. Ageing on the lees and time in the bottle give it more depth, volume and complexity, without losing the electric freshness of Assyrtiko.
In the glass it reveals white flowers, citrus fruit, white-fleshed peach, pear, sweet herbs and an intense metallic sensation. On the palate it is elegant, salty and extremely precise, with sharp acidity and a long, sea-scented finish. It needs a large glass, a little time to open up and dishes with texture and intensity, such as mackerel savoro, seafood dakos, shellfish, oily fish or ravioli with goat cheese cream.
