RAPSANI Old Vines Organic Red Wine Magnum by Dougos Winery is an expressive red wine in a Magnum 1.5L bottle, from the Rapsani zone, which highlights the character of old vines and the dynamism of this historic region at the foothills of Mount Olympus. The Magnum version is officially released by Aiolos as “Dougos Rapsani Old Vines Organic Farming Magnum 2023 – 1500ml”, while in the market it is described as the estate’s premium Rapsani from 60+ year-old vines with very low yields.
It is produced from the classic Rapsani blend, namely Xinomavro, Krasato, and Stavroto, and matures in 300-liter French oak barrels for 18 months, followed by one year of bottle aging. In the glass, it shows a medium purple color, while on the nose aromas of herbs, incense, and vivid red fruit stand out, composing a complex and refined aromatic profile.
On the palate, it is dense, structured, and elegant, with finesse, balance, and further aging potential. It is an ideal choice for those seeking a serious Greek Magnum red wine with depth and evolution potential. It pairs beautifully with red meats, braised dishes, lamb, game, and aged cheeses. It is best served at 16-18°C, preferably after decanting.
