Syrah Turtles Alpha Domaine

Syrah Turtles by Alpha Estate is a dry red PGI Florina wine made from 100% Syrah, showing how well the variety can perform in the cool climate of Amyndeon. It comes from the Turtles vineyard site, at an altitude of 640-650 metres, with a northwestern orientation facing Mount Voras. There, Syrah keeps freshness and precision, without losing its deep, spicy character.
The winemaking is careful and quite serious: destemming without crushing, cold maceration in a controlled environment, alcoholic fermentation at gradually adjusted temperatures and time on the lees with periodic stirring. The wine then ages in new fine-grained French oak barrels with medium toast and remains in bottle before release, gaining a more velvety texture and extra depth.
In the glass, it has a deep ruby colour with violet highlights. The nose shows red forest fruit, cherry, plum, pepper and earthy hints, along with riper touches of vanilla, mocha and subtle oak. On the palate, it is full, generous and velvety, with ripe tannins, spicy intensity and a long finish. This is not a heavy Syrah that tires the palate; it has power, but also the cool-climate balance that defines the best reds of Alpha Estate.
Pair it with juicy red meats, oven-roasted lamb, game, beef with rich sauces, grilled mushrooms, charcuterie and mature cheeses. Give it some air in the glass or in a decanter, and it will reward you with more intensity and complexity as it opens.
