Syrah Magnum by Avantis Estate is the more impressive version of one of the most recognizable Greek Syrah wines. It comes from Afrati in Evia and is bottled in a 1.5L format, ideal for a large dinner, a gift or anyone looking for a red wine with greater ageing potential in the bottle.
Vinification takes place with extended maceration for 20–30 days and controlled temperature, bringing intensity, colour and aromatic depth without harshness. Malolactic fermentation follows, along with ageing in French oak barrels, which give velvety texture, subtle smoke, vanilla and spice.
In the glass, it has a deep ruby colour and brings black cherry, plum, blackberry, pepper, cinnamon, smoke, chocolate and jammy baked fruit. On the palate, it is full-bodied, rich and spicy, with ripe tannins, good freshness and a long, rounded finish.
The Magnum bottle gives it even better ageing potential and makes it an ideal choice for more special occasions. With a little aeration, it opens beautifully, revealing earthier, smoky and chocolatey notes.
It pairs very well with beef, lamb, rib-eye, BBQ, sausages, game, mushrooms, peppery dishes, smoky sauces and mature cheeses. It is a red wine for anyone looking for power, depth and premium presence at the table, without losing elegance.
