Silphium La Tour Melas
€39,70
Silphium by La Tour Melas is a very distinctive rosé wine, more gastronomic and rare than classic summer rosés. It takes its name from the mythical silphium, a precious plant of antiquity that became extinct, and this story fits perfectly with the limited character of the label.
It is made from Fokiano, Grenache, Monemvasia and Aspro Potamisi, with varieties that give the wine intensity, texture and a more distinctive Greek identity. Vinification takes place with hand harvesting, careful pressing and fermentation in ceramic amphorae and stainless steel tank, while ageing on the fine lees for 6 months gives depth and a fuller feel.
In the glass, it has bright golden-rosé hues and brings citrus, quince, honey, dried flowers, pineapple, grapefruit and a subtle tannic feel that makes it more serious and food-friendly. On the palate, it is rich, rounded and balanced, with soft acidity, intensity and a long finish.
It pairs very well with fatty fish, shrimp, langoustines, smoked seafood, sushi, dishes with bottarga, white meats, Mediterranean flavours with herbs, dishes with gentle spices and more creative cuisine. It is a rosé for anyone looking for something premium, rare and genuinely different in the glass.
