Madame Haritatou by Haritatos Vineyard is the more mature, velvety and charmingly dark version of Kefalonian Mavrodaphne. Made from 100% Mavrodaphne, it leaves behind every classic idea about the variety and appears in the glass as a dry red wine with depth, finesse and a clear Ionian personality.
Ageing in barrel gives it a rounder texture, subtle oak notes and extra complexity, without losing the juicy character of the variety. In the glass it reveals ripe plum, cherry, black raisin, pepper, laurel, cocoa and chocolate.
On the palate it is dry, full-bodied and smooth, with soft tannins, ripe fruit and a long, spicy finish. It needs a little time in the glass and pairs beautifully with pastitsio, moussaka, chicken in tomato sauce, pork with spices, meatballs, game, mushroom dishes or aged cheeses. A Mavrodaphne with style, depth and old-school charm in a modern version.
