Cyrus One by La Tour Melas is a red wine that smartly plays between Nemea and Achinos in Fthiotida. It combines Agiorgitiko, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, bringing together juicy Greek fruit, Bordeaux-style structure and a fresher, more contemporary approach in the glass.
Each variety is vinified separately, so that its individual character is preserved. Spontaneous fermentation and ageing for 18 months in small and large oak vats give the wine depth, spicy intensity and a more complex texture, without losing the freshness of the fruit.
In the glass, it has a deep cherry colour with magenta highlights and brings raspberry, cherry, blackcurrant, plum, smoke, spices and a subtle oak feel. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, lively and balanced, with fresh acidity, soft tannins and a bright, fruity finish.
It is a red wine that drinks beautifully now, especially with a little aeration, but also has serious potential to evolve in the bottle. It pairs very well with rib-eye, burgers, beef bourguignon, lamb, pork with BBQ sauce, mushrooms, dishes with red sauces and mature cheeses.
