Assyrtiko Agia Kyriaki Alpha Domaine
€23,60
Assyrtiko Agia Kyriaki by Alpha Estate is a clean, sharp yet full expression of the variety, from the Amyndeon winegrowing zone. It comes from the Agia Kyriaki vineyard block, covering 24.50 stremmas, at an altitude of 535 metres, with a northwestern orientation facing Mount Voras. The soil is sandy-clay, over limestone formations, helping the wine keep intensity, precision and that mineral feel that suits Assyrtiko so well.
The winemaking is careful and focused: 16 hours of skin contact, alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with controlled cooling and 8 months on the lees with regular stirring. This way, the wine does not stay simply lemony and energetic, but gains fuller texture, better structure and extra depth on the palate.
In the glass, it has a bright pale yellow colour with greenish highlights. The nose moves through citrus fruit, white flowers and white-fleshed fruit, with a clean varietal expression and a fresh, almost sea-breeze feel. On the palate, it is crisp but not hollow, with lively acidity, creamy texture from the lees ageing and a finish that lasts. This is an Assyrtiko with the intensity you expect from the variety, but with a more northern, cool-climate elegance.
Open it next to grilled fish, shellfish, prawns, squid, lemony vegetable dishes, white meats, herb-driven recipes or salty cheeses. It works beautifully at the table, especially when the food needs freshness, acidity and clarity.
