Alargino Hatzimichalis Estate

Alargino by Domaine Hatzimichalis is a Merlot from Atalanti Valley, with finesse, ripe black fruit and a very well-crafted texture. It comes from the Alargino vineyard, in the Zygos area, a more isolated part of the vineyard that gives low yields and highly concentrated grapes.

Vinification follows the classic red winemaking method and the wine ages for 12 months in new 228L French oak barriques, before staying for another 12 months in the bottle. The result is a Merlot with depth, soft tannins and a more complex feel, without losing the juicy and expressive character of the variety.

In the glass, it brings black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, kirsch, violet, cinnamon, clove and vanilla. Over time, it develops more earthy and tertiary notes, such as leather, tobacco, mushroom, prune and vegetal elements. On the palate, it is full-bodied, balanced and refined, with soft tannins, ripe fruit and a long finish.

It pairs very well with grilled duck, stuffed turkey, pork tenderloin or beef with plums, rooster in wine sauce, small poultry, mushrooms, stews and mature soft cheeses. It is a Merlot with premium character, ideal for a more refined table but also for cellaring.
