Terra Nera Mandilaria by Artemis Karamolegos Winery is a red wine with island attitude and a lighter, juicy mood than you might expect from Mandilaria. It comes from old vines in Santorini and the Cyclades, and brings to the glass fresh red fruit, cherry, sour cherry, spicy spices and Mediterranean herbs.
Vinification is carried out with the aim of preserving the freshness and crisp fruit of the variety, with short maceration and ageing mainly in tank, while a small part passes through oak barrels to give a little extra structure and depth. On the palate it is direct, refreshing and delicious, with fine tannins, fruity intensity and a spicy finish that makes it incredibly food friendly.
It is ideally enjoyed slightly chilled, around 14-16°C, and pairs perfectly with cold cuts, pizza, burgers, pasta with red sauce, meatballs, but also more boldly with tuna or pan-fried salmon. A red wine that does not need a heavy mood in order to be enjoyed.
