Syrah Kikones Estate
€28,30
Syrah by Kikones Estate is a red wine with intensity, depth and that dark, spicy side that makes the variety so attractive. It comes from 100% Syrah, cultivated in Maronia, Thrace, on red clay loam soils that help the wine gain structure, concentration and clarity of fruit. The area, between the sea breeze of the Thracian Sea and the cool influences of Rodopi, gives Syrah a fresher, more balanced expression, without taking away its power.
In the vinification, Kikones Estate works with hand sorting and manual cap punching, so that extraction brings colour, aroma and tannins in a controlled way. Ageing for 12 months in French oak barrels adds depth, smoky notes and a pleasant touch of toasted oak, while bottling without fining and filtration keeps the wine more vivid and authentic.
In the glass, it brings out black cherry, coffee, cacao, liquorice and subtle toasted oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied, powerful but soft, with fine tannins, rich texture and a long finish that lingers with a ripe, concentrated character. It is not a Syrah that simply tries to impress with volume. It has power, but it also has rhythm, balance and the elegance that makes the glass truly enjoyable.
Place it next to lamb, fillet steak, grilled beef cuts, game, slow-cooked meats, spicy sausages or mature cheeses. It is a red wine for tables with intensity, for evenings when you want something deeper and more serious, but not heavy or tiring. Syrah by Kikones Estate shows how beautifully an international variety can gain a Thracian identity.
