Sauvignon Blanc Fumé Kaliva Alpha Domaine
€23,60
Sauvignon Blanc Fumé Kaliva by Alpha Estate is the richer and more complex expression of Sauvignon Blanc from Amyndeon. It comes from the Kaliva vineyard block, a small 23.32-stremma single block at an altitude of 632 metres, with a northwestern orientation facing Mount Voras. The cool environment of Florina keeps the variety intense and fresh, while the oak adds depth without covering its character.
The winemaking is quite detailed: pre-fermentation maceration, alcoholic fermentation at graduated temperatures, the use of indigenous yeast flora from the same vineyard block and 7 months of ageing in fine-grained French oak barrels of the Tronçais type, with periodic lees stirring. In simple terms, this Sauvignon Blanc does not stay only on its aromatic side; it gains creamy texture, volume and a more food-friendly dimension.
In the glass, it shows citrus fruit, passion fruit and melon, along with subtle oak notes that give it a more sophisticated character. On the palate, it is full, fresh and balanced, with lovely finesse, a creamy feel and a long finish. This is Sauvignon Blanc with energy, but also with the maturity needed to stand next to more demanding dishes.
Put it next to white meats with creamy sauces, smoked fish, raw shellfish, prawns, crayfish, grilled fish or seafood pasta. It is a wine you can open on its own, but its real strength shows at the table.
