Ippeas Kikones Estate

€23,50

Ippeas by Kikones Estate is a red wine with a Bordeaux-style approach and a clearly Thracian personality. It is made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, two varieties that in Maronia find a beautiful balance between ripe fruity intensity, structure and freshness. The estate’s organically cultivated vineyards stretch across red clay loam soils, in an area influenced by the Thracian Sea and Mount Ismaros, giving the wine depth, clarity and a strong character.

In the vinification, Kikones Estate works with hand sorting, fermentation with whole berries and manual cap punching, so that extraction happens with intensity but without harshness. Ageing for 12 months in French oak barrels adds notes of smoke, vanilla and spice, while bottling without fining and filtration keeps the texture and authentic character of the wine more alive.

In the glass, it brings out ripe cherry, plum, blackberry and blackcurrant, together with subtle smoky oak, mint and vanilla. On the palate, it is full, smooth and velvety, with ripe tannins, pleasant roundness and a long finish. It is not a heavy, tiring red, but a wine with serious structure and a beautiful rhythm, able to stand comfortably next to a meat-based meal or evolve in the bottle for many years.

Pair it with fillet steak, rib-eye, lamb chops, pork chop, wild poultry, slow-cooked beef or mature cheeses. Ippeas is one of those red wines that has style without shouting. It offers richness, intensity and depth, while keeping the elegance that makes the second glass come naturally.
