Grande Cuvée Nemea Skouras Estate
€22,00
Grande Cuvée Nemea by Domaine Skouras is an expressive dry red wine from the Nemea zone, with the designation PDO Nemea. It is produced from 100% Agiorgitiko from vineyards in Nemea at an altitude of about 1,040 feet and with an average vine age of about 30 years. The wine expresses a denser, more complex, and more age-worthy character of the variety.
In the glass, it shows a bright, deep, and clear ruby-red color, while on the nose aromas of red fruits, such as morello cherry, blackberry, and red cherry, stand out, together with dried herbs, spices, and mineral notes. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, with intriguing acidity, high-quality tannins, and a long, complex, constantly evolving finish.
Grande Cuvée Nemea is vinified with alcoholic fermentation and extraction in stainless steel vats, completes full malolactic fermentation in barrels, and matures for 12 months in new French barriques, 4 months of which are with fine lees, followed by at least 6 months of bottle ageing. It is an ideal choice for those seeking a Greek dry red wine with depth and ageing potential. It pairs very nicely with red meats, braised dishes, game, and aged cheeses. In the technical sheet for the 2021 vintage, the alcoholic strength is listed as 14.5% vol.
