Chardonnay Boutari Winery

Boutari Wineries’ Chardonnay is a white wine from Arcadia that finds a really nice balance between freshness and a subtle touch of oak. It does not try to become heavy or overly buttery; it keeps the fruity character of the variety alive, with the oak working as a detail that adds volume rather than taking over.
Its winemaking starts with pre-fermentation maceration, in order to bring out more aromatic intensity from the grape. Fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks, for purity and freshness, and then the wine is transferred to French oak barrels, where it completes fermentation and ages for 3 months with the fine lees. This gives it a fuller texture, better structure and an elegant, creamy feel on the palate.
In the glass, it has a bright, pale golden-yellow colour. The nose moves through aromas of pear, apple and citrus fruit, while notes of vanilla and oak add depth without weighing down the wine. On the palate, it is balanced, rich just as much as it needs to be, with pleasant freshness and a finish that lingers.
It is a Chardonnay that you can open easily, but it does not go unnoticed. It pairs beautifully with shellfish, oily fish, chicken with white sauces, risotto, pasta with cream and soft cheeses. Best served at 10-12°C, where the balance between fruit, freshness and its subtle oak touch shows at its best.
