Chairman’s Reserve by La Tour Melas is a red wine for anyone looking for something truly rare, collectible and deeply crafted. It is a limited blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, based on the best selections from the 2019 and 2020 harvests, with only 588 bottles produced.
The wine comes from three distinct terroirs of La Tour Melas: Thymari, Pyrgos and Vouno. Cabernet Franc gives finesse, aromatic intensity, herbal character and structure, while Merlot adds depth, roundness and a more velvety texture. Fermentation takes place separately for each micro-parcel, with indigenous yeasts in open-top barrels, while the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
In the glass, it brings black cherry, cassis, blackberry, plum, violet, liquorice, smoke, spices, graphite and subtle oak. On the palate, it is rich, deep and layered, with fine but firm tannins, lively acidity and a very long, elegant finish.
With a little aeration, it opens impressively, revealing earthier, smoky and spicy notes. It is a wine for a serious cellar, but also for a very special moment at the table, especially if you give it time in the glass.
It pairs very well with fillet steak, rib-eye, beef bourguignon, lamb, game, mushrooms, truffle dishes, slow-cooked meats, rich red sauces and mature cheeses. A red wine with premium character, seriousness and rare balance between power and absolute elegance.
