Pyritis Mega Cuvée Artemis Karamolegos Winery

Pyritis Mega Cuvée by Artemis Karamolegos Winery is one of those Assyrtiko wines that remind you why Santorini plays in a category of its own. It comes from three exceptional vineyard sites with very old vines, over 120 years old, two in Pyrgos and one in Megalochori, giving a wine with impressive concentration, intensity and volcanic depth.

Vinification is carried out with minimal intervention, so that the place can be expressed clearly, while ten months of ageing on the lees with frequent stirring give it volume, complexity and a beautifully full texture. In the glass it reveals lemon, grapefruit, ripe peach, citron, hints of smoke, wet stone and the characteristic flinty sensation that makes great Santorini Assyrtiko wines so distinctive.

On the palate it is rich, sharp and electric, with high acidity, salty intensity and a finish that lingers for a long time. It needs a large glass, a little time to breathe and food with personality: oily fish, shellfish, salmon carpaccio, lobster, seafood pasta, shellfish risotto or even lamb fricassee. A white wine with seriousness, energy and a pure Santorini imprint.
