Mavrotragano by Estate Argyros is the dark, rarer and untamed side of Santorini. Made from the island’s indigenous red variety, it brings to the glass depth, intensity and a character that moves between the wild Cycladic landscape and elegant red-wine finesse.
On the nose it shows black cherry, sour cherry, blackberry, pepper, spices, smoke and subtle oak hints. Ageing in French oak barrels gives it structure, a rounder texture and extra complexity, without hiding the freshness and intensity of the variety.
On the palate it is full-bodied, structured and lively, with noticeable yet well-crafted tannins, refreshing acidity and a long, spicy finish. It needs a little time in the glass and pairs perfectly with beef steak, game, burgers, mushroom dishes, red sauces with spices and aged cheeses.
