Kratistos by Lykos Winery is an Agiorgitiko from Nemea with rich fruit, soft structure and a classic, enjoyable red wine feel. Although Lykos Winery is based in Evia, here it works with one of the most important Greek red varieties, creating a wine with depth but also a friendly character.
Ageing for 12 months in barrique gives the wine a more complex texture, sweet spices and subtle notes of vanilla and chocolate, without covering the fruit. In the glass, it has a deep red colour and brings plum, strawberry, cherry, cranberry, vanilla, cinnamon, clove, toffee and bitter chocolate.
On the palate, it is rich, rounded and balanced, with velvety tannins, juicy fruit and a long, sweet-spicy finish. It is not a heavy or tiring red wine; it has structure and ageing interest, while remaining easy and enjoyable in the glass.
It pairs very well with grilled meats, beef, lamb, pork, burgers, pasta with red sauces, mushrooms, charcuterie and mature yellow cheeses. It is an Agiorgitiko for anyone looking for a Greek red wine with fruit, spice and seriousness, without unnecessary strictness.
